Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using the Sprout Canopy app. By creating an account or using any part of the app, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Sprout Canopy LLC ("Sprout Canopy," "we," "our," or "us"), an Illinois limited liability company. These Terms govern your access to and use of the Sprout Canopy mobile application and any associated services (collectively, the "Service").
You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years old.
This Service is not intended for use by children. If you are under 18, you may not use the Service. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will terminate their account. If you are aware of a child using this Service, please notify us at help@sproutcanopy.com. For information on how we handle data about children entered by parents, please see our Privacy Policy.
2. Description of the Service
Sprout Canopy is a mobile application that helps parents and guardians of young children plan and track meals. Core features include:
- Meal logging via photo upload or text entry
- AI-generated meal plan suggestions based on your child's eating history, preferences, and dietary restrictions
- Eating history tracking and food acceptance insights
The Service is offered on a freemium basis. Certain features require a paid Plus subscription.
3. Not Medical or Nutritional Advice
Important: Sprout Canopy is a wellness and convenience tool. It is not a medical, dietary, clinical, or nutritional advice service.
- Meal suggestions generated by the app are for informational and convenience purposes only.
- The app does not diagnose or treat any medical condition, eating disorder, allergy, or nutritional deficiency.
- AI-generated meal plans are not reviewed by registered dietitians, physicians, or other healthcare professionals.
- Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical or nutritional decisions regarding your child's health and diet.
By using the Service, you acknowledge and accept that Sprout Canopy bears no liability for health outcomes resulting from meal choices made using the app.
4. Account Registration
To use the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, complete, and current information
- Keep your login credentials confidential
- Notify us immediately at help@sproutcanopy.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
- Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain inaccurate information or that violate these Terms.
5. Subscription Plans and Billing
5.1 Free Tier
Sprout Canopy offers a free tier with access to core features, subject to usage limits on logging volume, planning horizon, and personalization depth. We reserve the right to modify the features included in the free tier at any time with reasonable notice.
5.2 Plus Subscription
Plus unlocks extended features including increased logging limits, longer planning horizons, and deeper personalization. Plus is available at:
- Monthly: $8.99 per month
- Annual: $79.00 per year
All prices are in USD and subject to applicable taxes. We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.
5.3 Free Trial
New Plus subscribers receive a 7-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the free trial period ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription and you will be charged the applicable subscription fee. You can cancel the free trial at any time before it ends through your device's App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
5.4 Auto-Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) unless cancelled. You will be charged the applicable renewal fee through your App Store or Google Play account within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
5.5 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device's subscription settings (App Store or Google Play). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain Plus access until that date. Cancelling a subscription does not delete your account or data.
5.6 Refunds
All payments are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Refund requests are subject to the respective platform's refund policies:

- Google Play refunds: support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637
Monthly subscribers: We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods.
Annual subscribers: Refunds for annual subscriptions are governed by the applicable App Store or Google Play refund policy. If you are dissatisfied with your annual subscription, please contact us at help@sproutcanopy.com and we will do our best to assist you.
6. AI-Generated Content
Meal plans and suggestions in Sprout Canopy are generated using artificial intelligence, including large language models provided by third-party AI providers. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Sprout Canopy is designed to take the allergies, intolerances, and dietary preferences you enter into account when generating meal suggestions.
- Because these suggestions are created using AI, they can occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or overlook something. You are responsible for reviewing each suggestion before serving. You know your child best, and you're always the final check.
- The app can only consider the allergies and restrictions you've entered, and it doesn't account for diagnosed medical conditions or other individual health factors, which aren't collected through the app.
7. User Content
You retain ownership of any content you upload to the app, including meal photos and text logs ("User Content"). By uploading User Content, you grant Sprout Canopy a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, and use that content solely to provide the Service to you.
You represent that you have the right to upload any content you submit and that it does not violate the rights of any third party.
You are responsible for ensuring that any photos you upload, including photos that may contain images of your child, are submitted with your full knowledge and consent as the parent or guardian.
8. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the app
- Use automated means to access or scrape the Service
- Upload content that is harmful, offensive, or infringes on the rights of others
- Share your account credentials with others or create multiple accounts
- Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Service or its servers
9. Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of the Sprout Canopy app — including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, software, and design — are the exclusive property of Sprout Canopy LLC and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
These Terms do not grant you any rights to use our trademarks, trade names, or branding without our prior written consent.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SPROUT CANOPY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SPROUT CANOPY LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
In no event shall Sprout Canopy's total aggregate liability to you exceed the amount you paid to Sprout Canopy in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Sprout Canopy LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. When you delete your account, your data will be permanently removed within 30 days. During this period, you may restore your account by logging in again within up to 30 days. After that, your data cannot be recovered.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in Cook County, Illinois, under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, you may bring a claim in small claims court if it qualifies.
16. Apple App Store Additional Terms
These additional terms apply to your use of the Sprout Canopy application obtained through the Apple App Store ("App Store Sourced Application"). By downloading or using the App Store Sourced Application, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
16.1 Acknowledgment
These Terms are concluded solely between you and Sprout Canopy LLC, and not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). Sprout Canopy, not Apple, is solely responsible for the App Store Sourced Application and its content. These Terms may not provide for usage rules that conflict with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions as of the date you entered into these Terms, and in the event of any conflict, the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions will govern.
16.2 Scope of License
The license granted to you for the App Store Sourced Application is limited to a non-transferable license to use the application on any Apple-branded product that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules set forth in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that the application may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with the purchaser via Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
16.3 Maintenance and Support
Sprout Canopy is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support services with respect to the App Store Sourced Application, as specified in these Terms or as required under applicable law. You acknowledge that Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the application.
16.4 Warranty
Sprout Canopy is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. In the event of any failure of the App Store Sourced Application to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the application to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the application, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty will be Sprout Canopy's sole responsibility.
16.5 Product Claims
Sprout Canopy, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the App Store Sourced Application or your possession and/or use of it, including but not limited to: (a) product liability claims; (b) any claim that the application fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (c) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation. These Terms do not limit Sprout Canopy's liability to you beyond what is permitted by applicable law.
16.6 Intellectual Property Rights
In the event of any third-party claim that the App Store Sourced Application or your possession and use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, Sprout Canopy, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such intellectual property infringement claim.
16.7 Legal Compliance
You represent and warrant that (a) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country; and (b) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
16.8 Developer Name and Address

16.9 Third-Party Terms of Agreement
You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the App Store Sourced Application.
16.10 Third-Party Beneficiary
You acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that, upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary hereof.
